To play Telestrations, each player gets a sketchbook and a secret word or phrase. Players have a limited amount of time to draw what their word or phrase describes. When time is up, everyone passes their sketchbook to the next player, who looks at the drawing and writes down what they think it represents. The sketchbook is passed again, and the next player draws the new guess. This continues until everyone gets their original sketchbook back. Players then take turns showing the drawings and guesses to the group, often resulting in funny and unexpected changes from the original word.
